Spring 2020 Release: Outpost24 announces agent-based scanning to enhance remote working security

Agent-based scanning helps organizations automate remote vulnerability assessment and enhance long term workforce security

London, UK – June 1, 2020Outpost24, a global leader and innovator in identifying and managing cyber security exposure, today announced its Spring 2020 release which adds major new capabilities to help customers improve remote workforce security during the pandemic and beyond. Faced with an expanding enterprise attack surface as the number of remote workers surge, Outpost24’s agent-based assessment enables organizations to evaluate security posture and achieve greater efficiency by assessing remote assets/devices for vulnerabilities as part of their vulnerability management program.

What’s new:

The Spring 2020 release centers around the introduction of Outpost24 Agent-based network scanning into its full stack security assessment portfolio. An agent-based approach enables greater mobility for enterprise businesses where disconnected endpoints and shadow IT have increased and pose a major security threat for those embracing and supporting an at-home workforce.

A recent Gartner CFO study shows 74% intend to shift some employees to remote work permanently post Covid-19, sending a clear signal that working from home is part of the new normal. Agent-based scanning provides security operations teams with the tools to assess remote assets because they don’t have to be on the network for traditional scanner assessment. Organizations can monitor their attack surface by automating the assessment of vulnerabilities and security controls asynchronously when devices next connect to the network. Agents for Windows 10 systems are available immediately with Linux support for Debian and Fedora distributions following later in June 2020.

Our customers are reaching a new level of remote work that was expected eventually,” said Bob Egner, CMO and Head of Products for Outpost24. “But the rapid shift driven by COVID-19 has come sooner than expected, creating another urgent security project. We’ve seen a huge surge in demand to secure remote workforce since the crisis hit, with one customer’s at-home assets increasing by over 2000% in just one week. Our agent approach is unique and efficient, building on our risk-based vulnerability management tools. The combination can help our customer maintain cyber hygiene and optimize work at full strength beyond their network perimeter for the long run.”

The Outpost24 product portfolio is the only full stack cyber security assessment on the market today. In addition to agent-based scanning, other significant new product releases include:

  • Outpost24 Portal: A simplified interaction for Outpost24 full stack assessment using Appsec and Cloudsec solutions including a new report library and scheduled reporting for improved user experience
  • Outpost24 Farsight: enhancements combine business risk scoring with the exposure and likelihood vectors allowing security teams to truly focus on remediating the security issues that pose the greatest business risk
  • Outpost24 ServiceNow App: Customers can access the ServiceNow App in the ServiceNow Appstore to ensure they are supported to the latest versions (New York and Madrid)
  • Cloud configuration assessment enhancement: Extended CIS benchmark certifications and enhanced compliance view in Cloudsec Inspect to provide additional insight and context in reported findings, including relevant notes, references, and CIS Controls
