Digital Risk Protection (DRP) helps organizations identify, monitor, and protect against threats across their digital footprint. The goal is to catch risks on the open, deep, and dark web before they can be exploited, by aggregating threat intelligence from diverse external sources (social media, underground forums, code repositories, and paste sites). Organizations scan continuously for exposed credentials, brand impersonations, data leaks, and emerging malware campaigns. 

This is all valuable information to have – but there can be a lot of it. To help make analysis simple, Outpost24 is adding AI summaries to its DRP modules that give customers simple overviews of their findings. We’ll walk through how this small AI-powered addition can lead to a big time saving when using the Outpost24 EASM platform and its DRP features. 

Where’s the user friction with DRP tools? 

DRP findings can be challenging to understand and interpret for a couple of key reasons:  

• Information may need to be presented in multiple formats and layouts  
• Each excerpt needs to be opened, analyzed, and understood before you can decide whether it’s important or not  

For example, consider the kind of information that can be presented when looking at threat intelligence from dark web sources. Large amounts of text can be involved, sometimes in different languages. It can take a significant amount of analysis from end users to establish what the exact situation is and whether it requires immediate attention.  

Put simply – DRP results are information-dense and can be time-consuming for security teams to process. This is why we’re adding an AI summary feature to make sure all customers can see the benefits hidden within complex results. EASM and DRP in combination uncovers great data and technical info, so we’re keen to ensure Outpost24 customers can easily find the insights they need. 

Outpost24’s AI-enhanced DRP summaries 

The DRP modules within our EASM platform now offer AI-enhanced summaries. These will help customers break down complex information from various sources into summarized snippets. Of course, the full expansive information will still be there for deeper dives too. 

How it works  

• Your DRP results will be received in the exact same way from our continuous monitoring sources, and therefore available in the platform without delay  
• A job will be scheduled to enhance the result using the AI LLM to automatically generate a 25-word summary, which will replace the original excerpt 
• For example, the AI summary might tell you that you’re looking at a password list or a code extract 
• If you’re migrating from an older threat intelligence product, you’ll now have access to this feature within the Outpost24 EASM platform  

Why we’re adding this feature   

1. Helpful content insights: Customers get a useful summary in an easily-understandable format. For example, a large piece of complex text will now automatically have an accompanying summary. 
2. Time saving: Security teams can make faster decisions on what to spend their time looking into. Rather than opening each item individually to better understand what it entails, the AI does the initial heavy-lifting for you. Importantly, the availability of your DRP results is not delayed. 
3. Translations: Content in other languages is summarized in English. So if the original content is in Russian or Chinese, you’ll get an AI summary presented in English. 

Will sensitive information be protected? 

DRP results are already published and publicly available by their nature. However, we don’t wish to further spread this sensitive information to third parties. Therefore, rather than sending data to one of the third-party-run LLMs, we will host our own instance of the LLM. Customers can be assured their data is not being further leaked to third parties.  

Where else are we using AI to enhance attack surface management (ASM)? 

We’re continuously researching, developing, and bringing AI-enhanced functionality into our Attack Surface Management solutions.
