If you look at your company network as a company car you know that every now and then you will have to drive the car to the motor vehicle inspection.
After the inspection you get a list of what type of defects the car has and how severe the defects are.

You could say that a vulnerability scanning is that vehicle inspection for the Network and it gives you a list of
defects you will have to correct.

Some of the defects at the inspection you must correct immediately, or else the car is not safe to drive. That is the same for some of the findings in a vulnerability scan, it gives you a list of alerts and some of them you must correct immediately in order to drive your network safely/secure and not be compromised by any external bad guys.

If you don’t know what kind of weaknesses you’ve got in your network, then you don’t know if your network is at risk to be breached.

If you don´t scan your network for vulnerabilities that is like driving a car in the middle of the night without lights, you will never know where you end up.
